1st Shift –
Welding Department
Reports
to: Welding Supervisor
DUTIES: Set up and operate welding equipment for welding stainless steel valves and piping, and also a variety of production parts. Responsible for fit up and dimensional accuracy and basic pre-cleaning of parts prior to welding. Perform special welding assignments to conform to applicable welding codes as in ASME, nuclear welding and military code. Regulate current and voltage, select proper type and size of rod according to engineering specifications and welding manual.
Grind the defective welds and repeat welding operations. Clean and dress welds to comply with inspection requirements. Repair and salvage castings. Prepare defective and surface areas by cleaning, chipping, grinding or wire brushing. Braze or silver solder parts according to job order and specifications. Perform product repair and maintenance welding. Move materials in and out of work area.
Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat
and orderly condition. Report any
problems or difficulties to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum five years experience with Orbital welding
techniques and 200 hours minimum Tig weld experience. Current test certifications required. Orbital welding and basic clean room protocol
a plus. Must have basic tools for
welding and fabricating; ability to weld and fabricate the following metals and
alloys--bronze, stainless steel, aluminum and brass-- using electric welding
processes; vacuum jacketed materials.
Possess basic math skills and ability to read basic drawings and
prints. Must meet attendance and
punctuality requirements for position.
EDUCATION: High school/technical school diploma or
equivalent
WORK HOURS: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Monday through Friday /
overtime and Saturdays as required
WAGES: $15.50 to $17.00 per hour
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical effort consists of
frequent lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Moving average to heavy weights (50 pounds),
or expending equivalent effort pushing or pulling, using hoist when
necessary. Constant alertness and
activity and continuous mental and visual attention. To perform this job successfully, an
